Since inception the library was operating manually using a Browne charging system because traditionally there was no technology. Emergence of digital era to the need for automating the library services. This was done during the year 2012 and since then the library is partially automated although there is need to RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) for the library to be fully automated.
The library’s future plans are to integrate the OPAC with the institution’s website through a login library page where users can be able to access the OPAC offsite (away from campus). Through this, library patrons will be able to use the OPAC away from the institution without having to come to the library. They will be able to do this from the comfort of their homes. Plans are being developed to ensure that our users can access past papers and other services online, including e-paper access.
Due to the “New Normal” in education, the library is underway in planning to integrate the OPAC with the University learning Management System so that it can align itself to the new way of learning and meeting the user need and information seeking behavior
