KHU Lecturers had a marvelous opportunity to get sensitized on the up and coming online learning platform ODEL. The platform will enable students to interactively engage in a a quality learning process over the web.
ODeL stands for Open, Distance and eLearning and is a mode of education delivery that has been embraced by institutions of higher learning worldwide. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the ministry of education in Kenya has recommended ODeL as a mode of continuing teaching and learning in Kenya especially in colleges and universities. Through the recommendations of the University Council, Management and Senate, this KHU ODeL Learning Management System (LMS) learning platform has started development and nearing its final phases. By September the system will be up and running ready to deliver education to distant students who will be able to log in to the system and continue with scheduled classes.
KHU ODeL Programmes will continue even beyond Covid-19 as more students become comfortable with the new mode of teaching and learning. ODeL is more favorable for students who are employed or engaged other responsibilities and may not get adequate time to attend Face-to-Face classes.
