ACTEA Executive Director Visits KHU

Kenya Highlands University had the distinct honor of hosting Rev. Dr. David Tarus, Executive Director of the Association for Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA), during a significant courtesy visit that underscored the strong and growing partnership between the two institutions. The visit was led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat, together with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics, Research & Students Affairs), Rev. Dr. Paul Lokol, who warmly received the guest and guided them through key areas of the university.

ACTEA plays a critical role in advancing theological education across Africa through accreditation, research, and capacity building. Its mission aligns closely with that of Kenya Highlands University, which is dedicated to providing holistic education that integrates academic excellence with spiritual formation. The visit therefore offered an opportunity to reaffirm shared values and explore ways to deepen collaboration in equipping students for effective service in the Church and broader society.

During the visit, Rev. Dr. Tarus toured several important facilities that contribute to the university’s academic and spiritual mission. These included the Kenya Highlands Seminary, where students undergo ministerial and Theological training designed to prepare them for leadership and service. He also visited the Guest House, which provides accommodation for visiting scholars, partners, and guests, fostering a welcoming environment for academic exchange and collaboration.

The tour further included the existing Chapel, a central place for worship, prayer, and fellowship within the university community. In addition, the Director had the opportunity to view the new University Chapel currently under construction. Once completed, this modern facility will serve as a vital hub for spiritual growth, corporate worship, and community gatherings. It reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing both the intellectual and spiritual lives of its students and staff, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

A major highlight of the visit was the tour of the University Library, a key resource that supports teaching, learning, and research across various academic disciplines. In a remarkable show of support, Rev. Dr. Tarus donated one thousand new book titles to the university. This generous contribution will significantly enrich the library’s collection, particularly in theology and related fields, providing students and faculty with expanded access to essential academic resources. The donation is expected to enhance the quality of research, deepen learning experiences, and support the development of well-informed graduates.

The visit also provided a valuable platform for discussions on strengthening institutional capacity, maintaining high academic standards, and expanding opportunities for collaboration. Partnerships with organizations such as ACTEA are instrumental in ensuring that universities remain responsive to the evolving needs of theological education while maintaining global standards of excellence.

Kenya Highlands University continues to position itself as a center of academic excellence and spiritual formation, committed to producing graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also grounded in strong Christian values. The support and recognition from ACTEA affirm the university’s dedication to quality education and its role in shaping future leaders.

The university expresses its deep appreciation to ACTEA for its continued partnership and generous support. Such collaborations are essential in advancing the shared vision of transforming individuals, communities, and society through quality Christian education.

As Kenya Highlands University looks to the future, it remains focused on expanding its programs, improving facilities, and strengthening partnerships that contribute to its mission. The visit by Rev. Dr. Tarus stands as a testament to the importance of collaboration in achieving long-term educational and spiritual impact.
