KHU Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with JOOTRH

Monday 19th May 2025, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu and Kenya Highlands University (KHU) have signed a memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) to allow Medical and health sciences students to train at the medical facility during their clinical rotation.

Our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat, in the company of our Deputy Vice Chancellor (AA), Rev. Dr. Paul Ekal Lokol, and Dean School of Health Sciences, Dr. Richard Sang, witnessed the signing of the document.

Speaking during the signing of the memorandum of understanding, Prof Kiplangat appreciated the CEO for the welcome and for opening doors for Kenya Highlands University students to train at the facility.The CEO of JOOTRH, Dr. Richard Lesiyampe, emphasized on the hospital’s commitment in medical training as the hospital scale up.

The Signing of the collaboration is a great milestone for KHU, and it is an indicator that local institutions can work together to achieve their goals even as we celebrate 70 years of existence as Kenya Highlands University.

Beyond training & health education, the MOC will foster collaboration in medical research, Innovation, and community health initiatives. By combining our strengths, we are committed to advancing healthcare services and contributing to the well-being of our community.

The clinical rotations at JOOTRH will provide our health department students with invaluable hands-on experience in a diverse range of healthcare settings. They will be mentored by experienced clinicians and faculty, which will ensure that the students gain exposure to various patient populations,how to handle challenges and enhance their clinical decision-making abilities for their future practice.
