Our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat, has welcomed newly admitted first-year students and challenged them to make the most of their university experience by embracing discipline, hard work, personal growth and a strong sense of purpose.
Addressing the new students during the Vice Chancellor’s Address as culmination of orientation programme, Prof. Kiplangat emphasized that university life presents an important opportunity for students to shape their future. He encouraged them to pursue their degree programmes with commitment, determination and all their hearts, reminding them that achieving their dreams requires focus, consistency and personal responsibility.
The Vice Chancellor urged the students to attend classes punctually, participate actively in learning and remain committed to their academic work. He encouraged the students to build relationships with friends who motivate them to attend classes, pursue their goals, maintain discipline and become better versions of themselves.
Prof. Kiplangat emphasized that Kenya Highlands University’s mission goes beyond academic training. The University seeks to prepare students who are relevant to the needs of society and who can use their knowledge and skills to make a meaningful difference in their communities. “Our goal is to train students who are relevant and mentor them so that they can make an impact in society,” he said.
He encouraged the new students to view their university education as preparation for a life of service, leadership and positive contribution to society. He also urged them to take responsibility for maintaining a clean and conducive university environment, reminding them that environmental responsibility is part of becoming responsible members of society.
