KHU Welcomes USMHRP Director Col. Julie Ake for Courtesy Visit

We were honoured to host Col. Julie Ake, Director of the U.S. Military HIV Research Program (USMHRP), during a courtesy visit to the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat.

Col. Julie Ake was accompanied by Dr. Fred Sawe and a team from Walter Reed. The delegation was received by the Vice Chancellor in the company of the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellors and the Board of HIRDI.

The courtesy call provided an important platform for engagement between the University leadership and the team, with discussions focusing on strengthening relationships, exploring areas of mutual interest, and identifying opportunities for collaboration in research, innovation, health, and other areas of shared interest.

During her visit, Col. Julie Ake had an opportunity to tour our University, where she was introduced to various University facilities and gained insights into the institution’s academic, research, and innovation activities.

The delegation also toured the Highlands Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (HIRDI) offices. The visit offered an opportunity to learn more about HIRDI’s role in advancing research, development, innovation, and partnerships at the University.

The engagement comes at a time when Kenya Highlands University continues to strengthen its research and innovation agenda and build strategic partnerships that contribute to addressing emerging challenges in society.

The University appreciates Col. Julie Ake, Dr. Fred Sawe, and the entire team for choosing to visit Kenya Highlands University. The University looks forward to nurturing the engagement and exploring meaningful opportunities for collaboration that will advance research, innovation, health, and academic excellence.
