Kenya Highlands University (KHU) and AGC Tenwek Hospital College have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening collaboration in education, training, research, innovation, and community development. The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important milestone in the commitment of the two institutions to expanding educational opportunities, strengthening institutional capacity, and equipping students with relevant knowledge and skills for meaningful contribution to society.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Kenya Highlands University by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat, accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, Rev. Dr. Paul Ekal Lokol. Representing AGC Tenwek Hospital was the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ben Siele and the Principal of the Hospital College Mr. Jackson Mosonik together with members of the Tenwek team. The signing ceremony brought together representatives of the two institutions to reaffirm their shared commitment to building a strong and mutually beneficial partnership.
The partnership will create stronger pathways between technical and vocational education and university education, providing students with opportunities for academic progression and credit transfer. It will also open avenues for joint research, innovation, scholarly publications, mentorship, training, workshops, seminars, and staff and student exchange programmes.
Students and staff will be encouraged to participate in training programmes, mentorship, workshops, seminars, exchange programmes, and other capacity-building activities. These initiatives will promote academic and professional development while encouraging a culture of research, creativity, innovation, and continuous learning within both institutions.
Recognizing the importance of practical experience in preparing students for the world of work, the partnership will further strengthen industry linkages through student attachments, internships, job-placement initiatives, and engagement with relevant industry partners. These opportunities will enable students to complement classroom learning with practical exposure and professional experience. By connecting academic and technical training with real-world environments, the collaboration seeks to enhance students’ employability and prepare them to make meaningful contributions within their respective professions.
The partnership will also support institutional outreach, marketing, and stakeholder engagement, while a Joint Steering Committee will oversee the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of activities under the MoU.
This partnership marks an important milestone in the shared commitment of Kenya Highlands University and AGC Tenwek Hospital to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening professional development, and transforming communities through education and skills development.
