Kenya Highlands University reaffirms its commitment to strengthening partnerships with schools and the community as part of our efforts to nurture holistic learners and contribute to the advancement of education in the society.
The commitment was underscored this afternoon when the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kiplangat, accompanied by the University team, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Richard Mibei, Principal of Kericho High School.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the two institutions to discuss areas of mutual collaboration. Prof. Kiplangat appreciated Kericho High School for its continued partnership with KHU and highlighted the value of collaborations that create meaningful opportunities and benefits for both institutions.
Kenya Highlands University is keen to deepen our engagement with schools through programmes focusing on student mentorship, career guidance, counselling, mental wellness, leadership development and educational support.
These initiatives are designed to support learners beyond academic achievement by helping them develop the knowledge, skills, values and confidence needed to navigate their educational and career journeys.
As a Christian university committed to “Integrating Faith, Life and Learning,” KHU recognises the importance of working closely with schools and communities to nurture responsible, well-rounded and purpose-driven students.
The Vice Chancellor also invited Kericho High School to participate in an environmental impact assessment scheduled for next week at Kenya Highlands University, ahead of the planned development of an ICT Centre.
The proposed centre is expected to provide opportunities for enhanced ICT learning, innovation and technological exposure within the region.
Mr. Mibei welcomed the initiative, noting that the project comes at an opportune time, particularly in light of the changing demands of education under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
He expressed interest in opportunities that would enhance ICT learning and exposure among CBC learners, particularly Grade 10 students, enabling them to develop relevant competencies for a technology-driven future.
By working together, universities and schools can create platforms for mentorship, knowledge sharing, career awareness, technological exposure and personal development, giving students opportunities to discover their potential and prepare for the future.
The engagement between Kenya Highlands University and Schools therefore marks another step towards building a stronger and more collaborative education community.
