Kenya Highlands University (KHU) has strengthened its commitment to research, innovation and transformative development with the inauguration of the Highlands Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (HIRDI) and the HJKMRI Centre.
The landmark occasion brought together university management, researchers, scholars and other stakeholders in a renewed commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation and generating practical solutions to emerging challenges facing society.
The delegation was received by the University Management, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Finance, Planning and Research (FP&R), Dr. John Gathii, Rev. Dr. Paul Ekal Lokol,DVC Academics and Students Affairs among other members who welcomed the guests and underscored the University’s growing emphasis on research as a key pillar of institutional transformation.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. Joseph Caravalhon, CEO of HIRDI, who officially inaugurated the centre and highlighted the critical role of research and innovation in shaping the future of higher education and contributing to societal transformation.
The establishment of HIRDI marks a significant milestone in KHU’s journey towards becoming a stronger centre of research excellence. The institute is envisioned as a platform for interdisciplinary research, innovation, knowledge generation and strategic partnerships aimed at addressing real-world challenges.
The HJKMRI Centre, alongside HIRDI, further expands the University’s research ecosystem by creating opportunities for scholars and researchers to collaborate, develop innovative ideas and translate research findings into practical solutions that can positively impact communities and institutions.
