Kenya Highlands University and Kenya Highlands Seminary is hosting an inspiring gathering of Christian leaders from across East Africa as the Global Gathering 2026 in Nairobi that started today. This brings together representatives from different denominations to engage in meaningful conversations about the growth and multiplication of the Church.
The conference was officially opened by our Vice Chancellor Prof. Joseph Kiplangat. He welcomed participants and expressed gratitude to the organizers for creating a platform that fosters collaboration, learning, and shared vision among church leaders.
In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor acknowledged and appreciated the partnership with Asbury Theological Seminary and extended appreciation to the Center for church Multiplication for entrusting Kenya Highlands University with the responsibility of hosting this significant event. He noted that such partnerships are essential in strengthening the Church’s mission and expanding its impact across communities.
Reflecting on the changing landscape of global Christianity, he observed that the center of Christianity continues to shift and grow in various parts of the world. This reality, he said, presents both opportunities and responsibilities for church leaders to think strategically about discipleship, leadership development, and church multiplication.
He further informed the participants that this is more than just another conference, the Global Gathering 2026 is designed to be a conversation, a space where leaders can share experiences, learn from one another, and explore practical approaches to multiplying healthy and sustainable churches. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that effective church multiplication must remain rooted in Christ, who is the foundation and source of the Church’s growth.
He also highlighted the role of Kenya Highlands University and Kenya Highlands Seminary in training Christian leaders and partnering with churches to advance the mission of church multiplication. Through theological education, leadership development, and strategic partnerships, the institution seeks to equip men and women who will serve the Church faithfully and effectively.
One of the most valuable aspects of the gathering is the opportunity for cross-pollination of ideas. Leaders from different countries, denominations, and ministry contexts are able to learn from each other’s successes, challenges, and innovations.
As the conversations continue throughout the conference, participants are being reminded to keep the ultimate goal in focus: helping churches grow, thrive, and multiply for the glory of God. The hope is that the relationships built and insights gained during Global Gathering 2026 will contribute significantly to the advancement of the Gospel and the strengthening of the Church across East Africa and beyond.
The gathering serves as a powerful reminder that when Christian leaders come together around a shared mission, they can inspire one another, learn from diverse experiences, and work collectively toward seeing more disciples made and more churches planted throughout the region and the world.
