Kenya Education Network (KENET) survey and audit

We were glad to host a Team from Kenya Education Network (KENET) who were in our campus from 22nd -26th April 2025 to do a survey and audit of our ICT infrastructure.

The growing demand for modern teaching, learning, Innovation, and Research in educational institutions has necessitated significant infrastructural and ICT upgrades. In response, Kenya Highlands University (KHU) has embarked on a transformative initiative to enhance our ICT infrastructure through a partnership with KENET’s Digital Campus Infrastructure (DCI) initiative. This collaboration aims to address challenges related to internet accessibility and reliability across the campus, thereby transforming Learning, Research, Innovation, and Working environments using technology.

The implementation of the ICT upgrade will ensure the comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage in offices, Lecture Halls, and student hostels, which will accommodate the use of modern tools of education like E-learning, online classes, and access to online resources for students.

Additionally, the network will see an improvement in the capacity of wireless access points, ensuring the effective utilization of the available bandwidth for our growing student population.

The upgraded ICT infrastructure will have a profound impact on teaching and learning at the university. Faculty members will be able to access educational resources effortlessly during lectures, fostering a more engaging and interactive learning atmosphere.

The collaboration between Kenya Highlands University and KENET exemplifies how strategic partnerships can drive significant advancements in educational learning, research, and Innovation. As we continue to embrace digital transformation, prioritizing connectivity and accessibility will better support our communities and prepare for an increasingly digital future once the upgrade is fully realized.

Our Vice Chancellor Prof. Joseph Kiplangat is committed to ensure that the ICT improvement is realized.
